Scrappy Plus Quilt!

Growing overwhelmed with my scraps I’ve been putting together bundles for quilts. I’m REALLY happy with my first one!!

I haven’t sewn too many bindings on, mostly because I can never get my seams as nice as I’d like them. I knocked it out of the ball park with this one!!!

Back. I was going to make a separate postage stamp quilt, but I thought having two quilts so SO many similar fabrics would be over kill. Part way through the postage stamp I decided I would just use it as the backing instead of finishing it.

We also finished “blue, orange, green and purple” days at school. Although I didn’t loose steam in making the clothes, I did lose steam in photographing them. I found myself lost in this teen drama series. I don’t do very well with suspense, so I ended up reading all 5 books over a weekend and getting NO sleep. I can’t read too much during the day because of the kids, so I’d literally stay up most of the night. The escape was great for my soul. I felt like I was able to loose myself in this fantasy world, which is SO refreshing some times. To forget the day to day things :  )

Sewing for girls….

Sewing For Boys…..

I was SO and I mean SOOO excited when I figured out a QUICK and EASY (as easy as it’s going to get) way to sew a button up collared shirt!!

A lot of times when we’re out, I’ll get asked if I made my girls cloths-even clothes I did make;)NO ONE asked if I made this. Which made me love it even MORE!!!! If you saw the photos from the Mallory’s Legend Stylized shoot, I sewed the button up shirt in that shoot as well : D (The rest of the clothes are from ML’s Shop!!)

Very Wrong…Very Right…

One thing I CAN tell you is that there are MANY ways to mess up a simple block like this. I found over a dozen. I put off my February Do Good Blocks because….well….just look at them. I saw them and thought “oh, I can do those in an evening—easy!” Yes. The first evening I came up with one 12.5 X 12 block and one 12×12 block. The following day I came up with another 12×12.4 block. Then I made a block that had 13  1.5 inch blocks that equaled 12.5 inches and on and on and on. If you look at my second block, it’s STILL not like it’s supposed to be….but at the risk of wanting to throw my sewing machine out of the window because I can’t sew 12 1.5 inch blocks to equal 12.5 inches I just gave up and put them in the mail. My Do Good Group might kick me out. I wouldn’t blame them ; 0 !!

BUT I DID do something VERY right!!!! The middle one is going through color days at school!! We lack a few of the colors in her wardrobe, so I’ve put together a few things for her.

She has plenty of red clothes, but she asked to wear this particular shirt that I had sewn for the etsy shop. How could I say no?

She had NO yellow. It’s not a color I buy. I have olive skin, so yellow makes me look sick…so I’ve just gotten in the habit of not even considering it when purchasing clothing. It doesn’t seem to have the same affect on her lighter shade of skin. (Or maybe I’m just an ever doting mother!)

We have Orange, Green, Blue and Purple coming up. At the end of it all I’ll try to do a comprehensive post : )

Stylized Children’s Photography| Mallory’s Legend

What a honor to be able to photograph for such an amazing designer KJ, who owns Mallory’s Legend.

The sessions themselves put me to the test, with a deadline. Although loose, it was still a deadline I wanted to hold. I re-learned what I already knew;  always have back up models. I was lenient with the number of models I booked because I didn’t want to have kids sitting around. Rookie mistake : ) Well, enough about me!

To begin with, if you’re looking for clothes for BOYS Mallory’s Legend actually HAS THEM!! She custom makes the clothing, so you’ll be confident that the clothing you purchase was made with love, care and with YOU in mind!!! KJ has a wonderful sense of blending the modern with a beautiful vintage flare in both her boys and girls clothes, which is what drew me to her children’s clothing!!
