This photo is SOOO over due!!! The day it arrived in my mail box I RIPPED it open and hung it our kitchen, so I could get a good photo…..and stayed there, unphotographed. The house we’re in is on the market, so it’s added another level of busy around here. A few times I thought I should pull it down to hang it in the sweatshop, but that never happened either.

My friend Lee–you quilters know her over at “Freshly Pieced” –if you quilt and don’t follow her blog, go ahead and stab your self in the hand with your quilting needle. You deserve it. OR….you can take the LESS dramatic, less self destructive approach and get your butt over there and check out her AMAZING AMAZING creativity and sewing skills!!! Lee sent this BEAUTY to me as a “Thank You!” WHAT???? It was one of those gifts where when I opened it, I immediately felt like I should go splurge at the fabric shop to send HER a “thank you” for her thank you gift.

EEEEEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was pretty shocked to get an acceptance to Tisch (NYU’s Art School) this summer!! I applied honestly thinking I didn’t have much of a chance getting in and didn’t have any clear concept of what I wanted to study. When I had to look at all of the course offerings I was COMPLETELY overwhelmed!!! I finally decided that I was going to spend my summer learning digital editing and effects (TV & Film). I REALLY wanted to take a Documentary Course, but it’s a 6 credit course from 9AM-6PM every day of the week. I’m not ready to spend that much time away (plus commute and homework) away from the family. Especially not SO soon after getting to a new place.

So far Avid has been really intuitive, so hopefully I’ll have some fun material to show you as the summer progresses!!!!!

I’m still plugging away on the Psychology of the Spectrum project.

I’ve been marinating in all of the happy feelings that come with watching your child turn a year older.

We had a “Fancy Nancy Unicorn Tea Party.”  

The girls got to style their hats and place settings with tons of flowers, gems and there were enough boas, dress up jewelry, make up and tulle to choke a drag queen.

ALTHOUGH I shouldn’t be sharing these images AT ALL!!!! I just CAN’T HELP IT!!!!! These images, as well as a TON of others are going into a coffee table book about the psychology of colors!! Having a master degree in mental health, I was magnetized to this project  and drooled all over it, claiming it as my own : ) !!!!

I still don’t know what images will be in the books  but hopefully the models and I will 1) LOVE the outcome and the choice of photos and 2) (Let’s just be honest) make some cash LOL!!!!!  None of these images are final images (which is why I feel like it might be a little bit OK to share a sneak peak hee hee!!!).

Seriously though, What an AMAZING AMAZING project to be a part of!!!!!!!

The scraps in each bag range from 1×1 inch to fat quarter. Bags will contain 100% designer fabric scraps.  A few bags contain Japanese Prints, Kona solids, Linen and Vintage Prints.

Each bag contains a wide variety of color ways and prints. If you buy more than one bag, I’ll throw in some extra fabric for you!!

I haven’t sewn too many bindings on, mostly because I can never get my seams as nice as I’d like them. I knocked it out of the ball park with this one!!!

Back. I was going to make a separate postage stamp quilt, but I thought having two quilts so SO many similar fabrics would be over kill. Part way through the postage stamp I decided I would just use it as the backing instead of finishing it.

We also finished “blue, orange, green and purple” days at school. Although I didn’t loose steam in making the clothes, I did lose steam in photographing them. I found myself lost in this teen drama series. I don’t do very well with suspense, so I ended up reading all 5 books over a weekend and getting NO sleep. I can’t read too much during the day because of the kids, so I’d literally stay up most of the night. The escape was great for my soul. I felt like I was able to loose myself in this fantasy world, which is SO refreshing some times. To forget the day to day things :  )

A lot of times when we’re out, I’ll get asked if I made my girls cloths-even clothes I did make NO ONE asked if I made this. Which made me love it even MORE!!!! If you saw the photos from the Mallory’s Legend Stylized shoot, I sewed the button up shirt in that shoot as well : D (The rest of the clothes are from ML’s Shop!!)

BUT I DID do something VERY right!!!! The middle one is going through color days at school!! We lack a few of the colors in her wardrobe, so I’ve put together a few things for her.

She has plenty of red clothes, but she asked to wear this particular shirt that I had sewn for the etsy shop. How could I say no?

She had NO yellow. It’s not a color I buy. I have olive skin, so yellow makes me look sick…so I’ve just gotten in the habit of not even considering it when purchasing clothing. It doesn’t seem to have the same affect on her lighter shade of skin. (Or maybe I’m just an ever doting mother!)

We have Orange, Green, Blue and Purple coming up. At the end of it all I’ll try to do a comprehensive post : )

The sessions themselves put me to the test, with a deadline. Although loose, it was still a deadline I wanted to hold. I re-learned what I already knew;  always have back up models. I was lenient with the number of models I booked because I didn’t want to have kids sitting around. Rookie mistake : ) Well, enough about me!
